Lucia Lopez figurative cubist study, c. 1950-60 pastel and charcoal on paper presented in a vintage water gilt gold frame under glass.
Lucia Lopez (1900-2011) was a Cuban artist who resided in Cuba and Florida. She was the mistress of a wealthy Cuban art collector, whom she served as the caretaker of his estate, as well as a painter and restorer of art looted from his collection during the Cuban Revolution.
Known professionally as “LuLo,” Ms. Lopez passed away in 2011. However, the collector’s estate has preserved her artistic legacy. Her work primarily comprises oil paintings executed in a cubist style, as well as figurative drawings and studies created between 1950 and 1980. She exhibited her works in Cuba, where she held gallery shows at the estate, and in Florida. See less
