This is an Extremely Rare 19th Century Antique His Imperial Highness Napoleon III Gilded Crest Breakfast Cup and Saucer Set by Dore A Sevres. The Breakfast Cup and Saucer both feature the Gilt Crowned N Cipher with Gilt Line Borders on a white background. The underside of the cup and saucer bear the Red Imperial Crowned N Sèvres mark with date letters for 1862 on the Cup and 1861 on the Saucer. As the first president of France, and also its last monarch and emperor, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the most colorful and controversial rulers in history. Porcelain pieces by Officially Commissioned Sevres bearing the Napoleon III Crest and official markings have been coveted by collectors. This gold on white pattern example is in excellent condition and exhibits the attention to detail and meticulous execution of the Sevres craftspeople. The Porcelain and Gilding is in very good to excellent condition, without crazing, chipping or significant yellowing spots. The Dimensions are:
Breakfast Cup: 2 5/8" H x 4.75" Diameter
Saucer: 1 3/8" H x 7" Diameter
Note: Cup has a small dot on the inside of the cup near the bottom center, possibly from thinned glazing during the manufacturing process and a very minute portion of the gilding shows some wear consistent with the condition expectations of a 163-year-old Cup and Saucer. A wonderful and unique opportunity to add this rare and beautiful piece to your personal collection! # 3387
