It's a unique piece of Art Deco history. We purchased it in Belgium in the late 1990s. We've enjoyed it all this time. Now it's time for someone else to enjoy it.
The Hammered pewter
body has stylized pinecone and needle designs in a three-dimensional relief Reposé.
The artist Rene' Sitoleux made these style vases for only 3 years from 1927 to 1930. His Signature is on the side of the vase and it's legitimate and clear. " R. Sitoleux "
Underneath the vase the stamp says...
ETAIN D'AR: Translates to "Art
Pewter," indicating the material he used.
• REPOUSSE: Refers to the
metalworking technique of
hammering the reverse side to
create a design in relief.
• RS: The artist's initials Renè Sitloeux.
PARIS: Denotes the city where he lived or worked.
And that's what I love it, I've owned it and enjoyed it for over 20 something years.
