Warm … Read more A colorful yet subdued portrait painting by Seattle-based artist Amy Scherer depicts a girl sleeping with a stuffed animal. Warm purple-pink and mauve are accented with bright pops of ruby red and balanced with an earthy yellow and cool cornflower blue. It was originally purchased at a Seattle charity auction in 1995, and we recently acquired it from the original owner. Acrylic paint on masonite with minimal black wooden built-in framework. Artist's signature reads, 'Scherer 95' in the bottom right corner.

Amy Scherer studied with the accomplished 20th-century American painter William Cummings, often associated with the Northwest School. A review of her mentor's paintings reveals his influence on her foundation of color and composition.
