Lovely majolica oval serving dish with 7 small bowls that nestle inside for serving snacks & crudites. Handpainted off white glazed pottery with a green boxwood and leaf motif with one darling bumble bee. Circa late 20th century. Signed on bottom, ‘Made in Portugal for Eximious, Inc.’
In the 1980's, Josephine Louis founded a charming and elegant shop while she lived in England which she called Eximious. The word Eximious is defined as "excellent, distinguished & eminent". The London shop became famous for gifts & monogrammed accessories. She commissioned artisans in Europe to produce unique and visually charming pieces with a standard for excellence. Her shop and the catalogue business have since closed.
