An oil painting on canvas with chalk pastel by the Japanese-American artist Reiko Sakagami Baum (1927-2021). This vibrant painting depicts an abstract composition bursting with bright pink, green, and blue chalk pastel against a jet black background. The piece is displayed in a black wooden and is unsigned with an estate stamp verso.
Lifelong artist, Reiko Sakagami Baum was originally from Japan and was known for painting. She attended art school in New York where she met her future artist husband, Michael Baum. The Baum's owned a framing company before becoming the owners and horse breeders of Man O' War Farm in Lexington, KY, where they lived out their lives.
