Description of the item:
Small jar with lid in glazed and vitrified ceramic, pharmacy jar, albarello, entirely hand-modeled on a potter's wheel, decorated in blue on a white background with floral motifs, leaves, and stars, finished in pure gold, made by the Cacf factory in Faenza in the second half of the 20th century, signed under the base.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Our research shows that the Cacf factory has achieved good auction results with ceramic services valued at €400-600, small vases valued at €150-200, a white glazed sculpture of a child valued at €250-300, and a pair of plates valued at €300-600, for an auction yet to take place. Bear in mind that we are talking about all auction bases, prices that could easily rise during the auction and to which auction fees of 25-30% must be added. Finally, it should be noted that 20th-century ceramics are the most penalized in auction prices, which are usually attended by dealers who buy to resell in their own shops or galleries.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
At the end of World War II, thirteen ceramists from Faenza, faced with the need to start working again, formed a cooperative and founded the "C.A.C.F." (Cooperativa Artigiana Ceramisti Faentini) ceramics factory in 1945. They began production inspired by traditional Faenza styles and the work of the ancient "Ferniani" factory. The members of the cooperative in the early years were: Aldo Bacchilega, Ezio Boschi, Emilio Casadio, Canzio Contavalli, Luigi Contavalli, Ilario Fabbri, Luigi Fantoni, Roberto Mazza, Giuseppe Melandri, Mario Ortolani, Vincenzo Ossani, Giovanni Pretolani, and Marcello Zanetti. Subsequently, numerous other important artists collaborated with them. The cooperative remained active until 1952, when the factory was sold to engineer Mazurek Blazey, who continued production until 1955. In 1956, the ownership changed and since then, production, which continued until 1996, has been marked "Ceramiche Faentine."
