Isaac Robert Cruikshank (1789–1856) and George Cruikshank (1792–1878) were brothers and prominent illustrators, sons of caricaturist Isaac Cruikshank. They began their careers in political and social satire, gaining fame for their lively and humorous drawings. Both collaborated on Life in London (1821), illustrating the adventures of Tom, Jerry, and Logic in Regency-era London. This was a social satire that depicted both the extravagant lifestyles of the upper class and the gritty reality of the underworld.

Isaac Robert was known for his theatrical and literary illustrations, while George went on to become one of the most influential illustrators of the 19th century, especially noted for his work with Charles Dickens and his later involvement in social reform through art. See less
