The 1952 painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff "Chinese Girl" became incredibly popular from the day it was created. It was also called "The Green Lady" because of the distinctieve blue-green skin color of the Asian girl.
The mass produced prints were among the best-selling of the 20th century. The original was sold in 2013 for US $1,5 million in London. The model Monika Sing-Lee was brought in the limelight for the occasion and she posed with the painting of her as a young girl.
