Set of 3 fine original antique hand colored seaweed prints but William Harvey c.1846. Includes Ceramium Deslongchampii 219, Ceramium Gracillimum 206, and Polysiphonia Richardsoni 10. Coloring includes shades of burgundy and eggplant.
William Henry Harvey (1811-1866) was a prominent Irish botanist and a key figure in the study of seaweed. He is known for his detailed and artistic illustrations of seaweeds, particularly in his book "Phycologia Britannica," which helped establish the taxonomic grouping of seaweeds by color. His work remains influential in the field of phycology (the study of algae, including seaweed).
