The original pots mainly come from Provence, in France.They were used for preserving different types of meat, but mainly duck or goose, for the dishes Foie Gras and Cassoullet. The pots are usually only half glazed because they were buried in the ground, so meat stayed cooler and therefor fresher. You have them in different sizes, including very small ones. The original pots are from around 1850. The beautiful, warm ochre yellow color that matches so beautifully with the many gold tones from the Provence .
