a delightful set of six bowl-shaped plates, made of glazed, vitrified ceramic and entirely hand-decorated with various scenes on the theme of fishing, depicting various characters. Considering the type of bamboo basket used and the hair and clothing of the characters depicted, we are definitely talking about eastern fishermen, probably chinese. Signed on the decoration on most of the plates by the sica factory and on the back with the catalog number and place of production, "italy." this is an extremely unique set of plates and very rare to find.

information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
in 1946, the artistic ceramics manufacturer "s.i.c.a." (società italiana ceramica artistica) was founded in nove, in the province of vicenza, by g. Battista cogo, giovanni grappiglia, stefano guzzo, and angelo perin. The production consists of modern-style earthenware for the home. Among the collaborators of the factory were cesare sartori and angelo spagnolo, as well as boccato, gigante, and sambusi.
