Stunning mid-century sommerso glass vase (Murano, Italy, 1960s). This very decorative vase is made of thick red, yellow and transparent glass. Height: 21 cm/8.3''; width (largest point): 9 cm/3.5''; depth (largest point): 6 cm/2.4''. Very good vintage condition. One production imperfection inside the glass (dark dot).
"Sommerso" is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is usually cased by a clear layer. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
