A Rare Pair of Early 18th Century Baroque Swedish "Pricket" Candlesticks. Nice Proportions- each retaining the original painted decoration and gilding. Made in Sweden circa 1710.
A striking pair of early 18th-century Baroque pricket candlesticks, crafted in Sweden circa 1710. Each piece is boldly carved in wood and retains its original polychrome painted surface with remnants of luminous water-gilded detailing. Elevated on boldly scrolled tripod bases, the candlesticks feature sharply tapering columns with carved acanthus-form capitals and domed circular drip pans topped with original iron prickets.
These ecclesiastical candlesticks exemplify the Swedish interpretation of the Baroque style—elegantly restrained yet richly expressive.
