a rare and vibrant pair that beautifully showcases swedish glass artistry. Rosdala glassworks – swedish craft since 1895 rosdala glasbruk, founded in 1895 in norrhult, småland, is known for its high-quality utility glass, especially lamps. Originally established by oskar carlström and karl peterson, the glassworks changed ownership multiple times before being acquired in 1899 by danish consul fredrik l. Hey.
production focused on lamp glass and flourished alongside sweden's electrification. A new gas-powered glasshouse was completed in 1900. Throughout the 20th century, rosdala adapted its power sources—from water and kerosene to steam and eventually electricity in 1913. The factory benefited from its proximity to the narrow-gauge klavreström-åseda railway.
skilled workers, especially from germany and later other european countries, played a vital role in its growth. After decades of success, production declined and ceased in 1998. However, glassblowing resumed in the early 2000s in the former smithy, continuing rosdala's legacy of swedish craftsmanship. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
