A stunning glazed and vitrified ceramic plate, entirely hand-modeled and decorated with Raphaelesque motifs and two pairs of winged horses on the rim, in full Neo-Renaissance style, and a portrait of a woman in a swivel chair with a scroll and the Latin inscription "Virtutis Amor," meaning "Love of Virtue." Signed on the back by the artist Laura Cattini, dated 1930 and made in the kilns of the city of Rome. The ceramic biscuit is quite thick and the patina is beautiful, especially on the back, perfectly in line with our dating. Unfortunately, we have not found any further information about this artist, but we can certainly say that this is a beautiful plate, well made and entirely modeled and decorated by hand. A quick search on the internet will give you an idea of the value of similar ceramic plates made by the famous Roman manufacturers of the 1930s.
