Gae Aulenti trained in Milan in the group of young people linked to Ernesto Rogers; with him he collaborated on the editorial staff of the magazine Casabella from 1955 to 1965, taking care of the graphics and layout.
He graduated in architecture in 1959 and participated in the "Neo-Liberty" movement in the 1950s/60s, whose original components can be found in several of his projects; from '60 to '62 he taught with Samonà in the Faculty of Architecture of Venice and from '64 to '67 with Ernesto Rogers in the Faculty of Architecture of Milan. He acquired international fame with the creation of interior architecture, installations and exhibitions for the main Italian industries, residential and school buildings, as well as the design of furnishing elements and lighting systems.
In 1972 he participated in the exhibition "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" at the M.o.M.A. of New York. Gae Aulenti combines design activity with critical activity, carried out in the Association for Industrial Design, of which she was vice-president. from 1995 to 1996 he held the position of President of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan.
