The chandelier is made up of a rectangular satin brass structure, on which small brass cylinders have been inserted all around; transparent "Pulegoso" Murano glass spheres are attached to these cylinders. The chandelier is fixed to the ceiling by two brass rods and a long canopy that covers the fixing hooks. "Pulegoso" glass is a particular type of glass with a rough surface. It can be opaque or semi-transparent. Furthermore, it contains tiny bubbles inside. To obtain these bubbles, glassmakers add sodium bicarbonate or oil to the molten glass. This process then releases carbon dioxide. According to tradition, Napoleone Martinuzzi is the inventor of this technique, in the early 1920s.
