SYLVIA GITTLEN KRISSOFF
Sylvia Gittlen Krissoff passed on March 6, 2014 at the age of 94, following a long life of art, teaching and writing.
Krissoff was born March 17, 1919, to Grand Rapids residents Ruth and Alex Gittlen. She was the second of four daughters. She was a strong student and an active participant in countless community and charitable organizations.
At an early age, she became aware of her talent as an artist and received training and encouragement from her South High School art teacher, Ms. Vevia. Following graduation, Krissoff attended Grand Rapids Junior College, the Chicago Art Institute and the University of Michigan, where she met her future husband, Abraham Krissoff, whom she married in 1940
