Exquisite work by prized photographer Don Hong Oai (Chinese, 1929-2004) features a mesmerizing mountainous landscape and river scene with fisherman. Don was born in China, but spent most of his young life in Vietnam. He fled Asia, after studying under master photographers (including the infamous Lang Jingshan) and settled in San Francisco in 1979 where he established himself as a professional photographer/artist. This signed piece was purchased in San Francisco in 1992, and has been part of my personal art collection since that time. The colors are extraordinary, and his technique of layering scenic images (from negatives) won him several awards. His works are imaginative and historic.
