The flowers in this original still life painting by Tony Zink remind me of the cool lavenders, blues, pinks and yellows of home dyed easter eggs.
The painting has an interesting tension between rustic and sophisticated elements throughout.
The sophisticated lush floral arrangement is sitting in a rustic pottery water pitcher with one handle.
The minimalist background has the texture of a rustic French country cottage, but the griege coloring feels more formal and elegant.
Even the frame has this juxtaposition: made of light wood free of ornamentation, it has a top layer of steel blue which gives the effect of matte gold peeking through the sophisticated coloring.
