3’ 7” x 5’ Beauty in Simplicity! Vintage Hand Woven African Tapestry Depicting Life Scenes Around a Village. Beauty in Simplicity! A beautiful handwoven African tapestry depicting people and animals around a village engaged in daily activities. The design is very simple. It shows the different facets of a family in a village. The village could be anywhere in the world. It just happens that this is from Africa. It is not very sophisticated like the European and Verdure tapestries from the 16th and 17th centuries but it is in fact, it is that simple and almost childlike design that makes it so charming. An excellent example of the art of the African weavers.
