Lovely chawan from the middle Edo period. Produced in the Seto region, this teabowl has a wonderful handfeel and lovely texture. Glaze in tones of cream, tan, and pale jade. Maker is unknown, although the inventory number on the bottom of the bowl suggests some importance. Further, the bowl comes in a tomobako inscribed by the great potter Takuo Kato, a Japanese living treasure.
A beautiful addition to any collection, this antique piece is suitable for use for another 200 years or more.
