While the restoration has refreshed its overall appearance, there are still some visible signs of wear and minor imperfections on the top, consistent with its age and character.

Widdicomb is a well-recognized name in the furniture industry. The Widdicomb family, originally from Devonshire, England, established a cabinet shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1858. The company produced high-quality furniture in West Michigan until 2002 when it was acquired by Stickley.
