This is a visually striking art book of a major artist, Vasily Kandinsky, edited with contributions by Vivian Endicott Barnett and Armin Zweite. This is the first English edition (ISBN: 3-7913-1184-0). The book was first published in German in 1992 for the exhibition "Kandinsky: Small Pleasures, Watercolors and Drawings" that took place at museums in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. The English edition was released the same year, with Armin Zweite's essay translated by David Britt and edited by Ian Robson.
A comprehensive selection of Kandinsky's rare and brilliant drawings is offered here. The authors, both leading Kandinsky experts, provide a wealth of information on the artist and his career.
Based on the dimensions and specifications, it is a substantial monograph: 9 5/8" x 11 3/4", hardcover, 236 pages with 200 full-colour works and 70 B&W illustrations. It is in clean, practically new condition; there is minor edgware only on the book jacket, otherwise mint.
