A striking architectural accent from Burma (now Myanmar), this hand-turned wooden temple finial captures the sculptural elegance of Southeast Asian design. Tapering to a graceful point, the form is richly embellished with concentric rings of hand-applied brass studs — a detail that speaks to both craftsmanship and cultural tradition.
Traditionally, such finials adorned offering vessels, ceremonial structures, or pagoda spires, symbolizing spiritual ascent and sacred protection. Today, it serves as a conversation-worthy decorative object, equally at home in a global-inspired interior, a curated shelf vignette, or as a sculptural focal point on a console table.
Warm, time-worn patina throughout adds to its authenticity and charm, with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. A unique, worldly piece that blends history, craftsmanship, and design in a single silhouette.
Stands 20” tall
Base Diameter 6.75”
Widest Width 11”
Purchased at Estate Sale about 25 yrs ago from an avid collector of ceremonial related items. Apparently, the collector engraved the items with an identifying number sequence to track and catalog the collection. This piece was engraved 000244 into the bottom of wood base. I was told it was an anniversary gift to the Grandmother of the estate. Her husband picked it up on his travels and brought it to her in early 70’s. I’ve enjoyed and proudly displayed this eye catching piece for many years. Had many purchase offers over the years but was not ready to sell at the time. Still not ready but must downsize my collections.
