Item description:
fantastic murano bowl vase in blown glass, submerged, with small bubbles and coated, made using the submerged technique by combining a central core of green glass, previously passed over a surface with a series of spikes to create the bubbly glass (air bubbles) when joined with a layer of transparent outer glass, and finally the vase is coated with a layer of white glass. Finished with two transparent glass cords applied hot with the end widened and enriched with the inclusion of two large murrine in white and orange glass paste. A good-sized vase, unsigned, datable to around the mid-20th century and attributable to carlo scarpa for the venini glassworks. A rather large vase, weighing well over two kilograms.
useful information for evaluating the item:
from internet research, we have found that carlo scarpa made many bowl-shaped vases very similar to ours in pulegoso glass (very often) in a transparent green color, exactly like ours, and the prices of this type of glassware at auction or on sale on the best art and antiques sales platforms range from a minimum of €600 to €1,500-2,000, plus auction fees of 25-30%. It should be noted that our bowl, unlike the ones we found, is also embellished with two large and beautiful murrine.
information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
after graduating from the academy of fine arts in venice, he devoted himself to university teaching, continuing in various roles until 1977. Carlo scarpa made a name for himself after world war ii thanks to important exhibitions, particularly in venice: the paul klee exhibition for the 24th biennale, the art book pavilion in 1950, and the italian pavilion at the 26th biennale. In 1932, he began working with venini, becoming its artistic director until 1946. During this long period, he left an indelible mark on the world of glassmaking, designing models that have gone down in history and researching the most refined techniques.
