Inside a tavern, some customers are playing cards: the man sitting on the left cheats, hiding a card in the neck of his worn jacket, under the amused gaze of the innkeeper who arrives. The figures are grotesque, almost caricatural; the colors are predominantly earthy, to underline the popular setting. Restored and relined (restorer's label dated 1952 on the back), the painting is presented in an antique frame. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
