A C-print photograph taken by the Dutch photographer Hellen van Meene (born 1972). Titled "Untitled (#72), 1999-2003," this photograph captures the image of a young girl with orange fabric draped across her body and her head resting in a bowl of water. The photograph has been laminated on perspex and is hand-signed and numbered 33/75 to the verso of the perspex. Published by the Aperture Foundation, the photograph is displayed in a red and gold tone wooden frame.
Born in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, van Meene began taking photos while a teenager. She studied Fine Art at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and was shortlisted in 2001 for the Citibank Photography Prize. Van Meene is most known for her portrait photography, particularly her portraits of young girls. She has exhibited worldwide including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Venice Biennale, Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Hague Museum of Photography, among others.
