This is a rare and exceptional two-sheet engraving of South America, created at the beginning of its Century of Independence by William Faden, published in 1823. The map is based on original manuscript maps provided to His Excellency the late Chevalier Pinto, João Joaquim da Rocha, João da Costa Ferreira, and El Padre Francisco Manuel Sobrevida, as well as from the most reliable and documented accounts of those countries.
