This rare, museum-quality four-strand square pretzel square-back lounge chair was designed by Paul T. Frankl using the highest-quality rattan poles available and restored by rattan experts to ensure structural integrity and longevity. Made of steam-bent rattan poles, the chair features Frankl’s hallmark decorative wicker woven wrappings made of rattan strips. The piece comes from a home Frankl designed in Los Angeles in the mid-to-late 1930s. Originally part of a pair, its mate was sold by Harvey Schwartz to LA County Museum of Art in 2011.
Now willing to sell his.
The chair back is covered in original fabric that is too delicate to restore.
