This beautiful, egg shaped box would be lovely when displayed on a end table, bookshelf or nestled among other pieces in a Chinoiserie collection.
The box features two separate pieces both hand painted in beautifully colored detail. The upper box half features a pair of quail and a pair of another type of fowl on the banks of a river surrounded by flowers and other vegetation. The bottom egg half, features a collage of flowers painted on abstract shapes. The bottom egg half, has a navy blue background, covered in raised, light blue dots. Colors on the egg, include, but are not limited to; blue, beige, green, white, taupe, brown, rust ,mauve and gold.
Measurement; approx. 5" X 3 3/4, lidded height is approx. 3 1/2".
Writing on the egg bottom, reads (In English); "Hand painted Royal Satsuma", followed by Japanese symbols. See less
