A very rare pair of antique Famille Rose 'linen fold' Chinese porcelain vases originally purchased in Paris in the 50's.
The bodies are made of individual lengthy pieces of porcelain - a skilled task in itself, with a pair of very unusual 3-dimensional pale blue and light brown/gray chimeras on the shoulder area.
The main panels show two different and traditional family scenes in a courtyard area with a tiled building in the background. The circular side vignettes depict a wise man and a child. The white bodies are decorated with an array of enamelled flowers, fruits and auspicious Chinese symbols. Hand painted with rich lustrous enamels in the famille rose palette. Enamels are particularly vibrant and colours strong.
A pair of vases that are an excellent investment and that will grace many areas in the home in the meantime. A rare and collectible statement pair for connoisseurs and designers alike.
