One of a kind - impressive antique table lamp in the form of a magnificent rearing bronze dragon from the late Meiji Period of Japan. 1868-1912. The lamp could loosely be categorised as an "Okimono".
Features a censer shaped body, modified into a lamp, held aloft by a plume of water from the dragons mouth. If a globe shaped shade is placed on top, it will represent the eternal flaming pearl. See last photograph for an example of the shade that can be purchased.
Two bats form the 'handles', and each side of the censor body has further dragons and auspicious swallows. Elegant ruyi borders.
The back leg has an interesting and very old 'screwed plate' repair as seen in the photographs. Testament to the pieces age.
The lamp will take a glass shade with a base of 3.5", the four screws will hold it in place are in place and original.
