1960s Turkish Verne Kilim. Hand woven of wool on wool foundation in the Oushak region of Western Turkey. Verne Kilims are flat weaves with embroidery stitching to achieve the designs. After interweaving the warp and weft strands to weave the kilim and produce a flat surface, The design is hand embroidered on the surface of the flat woven kilim. This style allows the weaving of much more intricate designs.
