Expansive canyon landscape by California Plein Aire artist Nick White (American, 1943-2009). A river runs through a red rock canyon, snaking and carving its way along the canyon floor. The sky is filled with low hanging clouds of lavender and cream at dusk in the desert.

Artist's card affixed to verso.
Unsigned, but was acquired from the artist's estate with a collection of his work.

Nick White (American, 1943-2009) began painting in the early 1970s with some early success Later in life, White was a member (and board member) of the Los Gatos Art Association. He founded the Plein Air group, which he ran until 2009. He was a dedicated painter, leading many excursions regardless of group size. He preferred to paint in acrylic, as its quick-drying properties allowed him to “work fast and loose in the style of the early California impressionists.” Two of his paintings were selected for the Fiesta de Artes Posters in 2004 and 2005.
