Crafted in China during the Tang Dynasty, this small terracotta sculpture, presenting traces of its original painted finish, depicts a dignified court official recognizable at his headdress. Resting on an hexagonal base, the official exudes confidence, his head looking forward and his right hand pressed against his chest. The robe that he is wearing showcases a large sleeve with deep folds, while his waist is tied with a low belt. With its weathered patina and excellent depiction, this Tang Dynasty Chinese Court Official sculpture will make for an wonderful decorative item, whether displayed on a shelf, atop a side table or commode.
