This is a Great Looking Authentic Antique American Stoneware 2 Gallon Storage Crock. Circa Mid 19th Century. It is Rendered in a Unusual Low and Wide Style - Note that Typically 2 Gallon Crocks of this Type are Taller and Slimmer. It is Completely Hand Made and is Artfully Hand Decorated with a Classic Cobalt Blue Stylized Floral Sprig Design. Note that it also has the Added Feature of Applied Side Handles - "Ears". The Front is Embossed with the Number "2" Denoting its Two Gallon Storage Capacity. It is Also Embossed - Signed with The Well Documented Makers Name F. T. WRIGHT & SON in TAUNTON MASSACHUSETTS. The Interior Glaze is Done in Brown - Ox Blood Color. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most Of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made For Everyday - Utilitarian Use. Typically They were Used in to Store Many Types of Food & Liquids. It is in Very Good All Original Condition - Displays Nicely. It has 2 Small Chips at the Top Rim Inner Perimeter - A Small Surface Chip on the Interior Wall Surface - Few Very Small Glaze Flakes Here and There. No Cracks - No Repairs. The Salt Glazed Exterior has an Assortment of Very Interesting Color Variations and Stains Giving it a Wonderful Authentic Old Look. Most of these Would Have Occurred as a Result Many Years of Use - Some Occurred in The Making - Kiln Firing Process. It is in Strong - Sound and Perfectly Usable.
