It is a village street scene in an Expressionist, outsider art spirit, signed by the artist, Lopez. The paint is laid on thick in impasto, so the buildings and street have real texture and shift as the light moves across the canvas.

Painted in the mid 20th century, this vintage piece is oil on canvas in a sand palette, with a linen border and a gold outer wood frame. At 35.5" wide, 1.5" deep, and 27.5" high, it is large enough to anchor a wall over a sofa, a console, or a bed. It also works as the first piece in a maximalist gallery wall in the manner of Dorothy Draper and Tony Duquette interiors, where a bold painting sits among layers of pattern and gilt.

The painting is sold in found vintage condition, with the signs of wear that come with age. One area has a small loss of paint, shown in the photos, and it could be restored. Please see the photos for details and message us with any questions.
