Purchased from the estate of the artist's great-granddaughter, the lamp is a 19th century stoneware whiskey jug on which is hand-painted a fanciful cluster of European buildings. The image in framed top and bottom by a wonderful flourish of borders in reds and greens. Best of all, the lamp apparatus fits into the jug using a cork so there is no drilled hole in the jug. Can be used as a jug or a lamp, interchangeably. See less
