additional information:
adolf loos designed the original model in 1902 for the seating area in the living room of the art historian and writer dr. Hugo haberfelds (alserstraße 23, 1080 vienna). Loos also designed another variant around 1902 for dr. Otto and auguste stoessl (auhofstraße 235, 1130 vienna). Vienna's most renowned art furniture carpentry workshop, friedrich otto schmidt, which worked closely with loos and made the tables for him, quickly recognized the demand for this design and was able to adapt and produce the design language, adapted to various customer requests, from 1902 onwards. This is how the rare (mostly) six-legged tables were created, which are called “à la loos tables”.

adolf franz karl viktor maria loos (december 10, 1870 – august 23, 1933) was an austrian/czech architect and influential european theorist of modern architecture. His essay “ornament and crime” argued for smooth and clear surfaces in contrast to the lavish decorations of the fin de siècle and also to the more modern aesthetic principles of the vienna secession.
