Oil painting on board, please note, … Read more Extremely charming oil painting Portrait of Young Child dressed in off white lace finery. Oil painting on board, please note, this painting has not been taken out of original frame. It is in excellent condition, no foxing or wear on painting considering it's 165 years old, the painting is under glass hence the wonderful preservation. The painting is not signed unless on reverse. This is typical of the Victorian era, gentry families often had their children's portrait painted and many artists did not sign on the front of painting. It was considered "Tres Chic"

It is beautifully framed in an gilt wood oval frame, you will note the frame, is decorated at the top, bottom and at the sides with raised relief of floral decorations, and a patterned outside edge. The frame, was probably hand carved, and is a mixture of water and oil gold leaf gilding.
