A wonderful antique French quilt that uses two stunning designs! This charming quilt has the most wonderful block printed paisley Indienne pattern on one side that dates to circa 1850-1860! It uses beautiful tones of green, yellow, blue, white and dark purple on a red ground. The other side uses a beautiful art nouveau design dating from circa 1900! The fabric is a satinized cotton, with pink, green, neutral and red tones on a burgundy or maroon ground. This quilt is French and was all hand quilted and stitched. There is thin batting between the layers. Wonderful for use as is, for collectors, display, or various projects! (EQ54)
Measurements: This lovely textile measures 62 inches by approx. 71 inches.
Condition: This lovely quilt is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. There is some light fading on the paisley. There are some tiny thin spots on the side edges and one side edge has more little worn spots than the others, and there is a tear on that edge and some other spots where you can see the batting coming through. Generally in fabulous condition for its age, but not without some flaws often inherent in antique textiles!
