Maxfield Parrish (1870 – 1966) was an American painter and illustrator active in the first half of the 20th century. He is known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealized neo-classical imagery.
Pierrot, the clown, is serenading at sunset. He is comfortably sitting on the edge of a wall. His leg pulled up to support the instrument leaving his right shoe tucked inside his pant leg. The colors in this work are classic Parrish, rich and engaging.
Mailed in a cardboard tube to preserve it during transport.
Printed on heavy weight art paper. Generous margins for matting and framing.
Printed in a large-scale book celebrating the favorite paintings of 1908 by leading American artists.
