This item sits in its original custom gold gilt wood frame with beautiful hand painted matting.
Kaiko Moti was born in Bombay, India in 1921. As a young man, he attended the Bombay School of Fine Arts for five years. Upon receipt of a scholarship from University College, he moved to London. Then, in 1950, Moti moved to Paris, where he studied sculpture under Ossip Zadkine. Lack of space in Paris was a challenge to Moti, so he turned from sculpture to printmaking. He studied at Atelier 17 with Stanley Hayter. Moti’s work has been shown all over the world, most notably the Biennale in Venice, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, the New York Public Library and the New Delhi Museum of Art. His work can be found in public and private collections including Victoria and Albert Museum in London; the French National Museum of Modern Art and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.
