Given McGuire Furniture's history, founded in 1948 and known for California Casual and organic modern styles during this period, it is reasonable to estimate the piece was crafted between 1960 and 1979. It may have been a custom made piece, since it appears to be unique among all the McGuire furniture listings I have searched. I could not find another one like it.

An interesting note is that McGuire's designs frequently incorporated natural materials like bamboo and rattan, but this piece's solid wood construction with intricate carvings suggests it may have been part of their early or less common offerings, possibly inspired by Asian furniture traditions.

Provenance: Acquired from the estate of a distinguished San Francisco Bay Area family known for their extensive high end art and design collection as well as their philanthropic support of the arts.
