$21,OOO stunning oyster burl patchwork burlwood five drawer desk with hand crafted veneer work throughout. Oyster burl is a simplified more organic back to basics style of veneering which is why it has regained popularity in the mid century. Many oyster burls used regular wood however this piece is upgraded with burlwood as well. The cream of the crop luxury veneers.
Hand built to endure with thick SOLID wood slabs making up it's drawers and overall construction. Higher quality wood and veneer than the luxury furniture on the market today. Veneer work throughout and in drawers. First rate, top quality piece. Ultra strong, sturdy and free from issue. Absoltely gorgeous piece Serpenite shape with saber legs.
Maitland-Smith did a line of smaller pieces based on these ultra rare desks however they used the lower grade regular wood as oppossed to burlwood.
Absolutely stunning in person. Photos do not do it justice. The aged wood has an absolute glow in a rainbow of hues which cannot be caught on camera. Has a unique almost tortise shell look.
