I’ve been in the antiques business for over 45 years and this lamp is the cleanest one I’ve ever bought … Read more I’ve been in the antiques business for over 45 years and this lamp is the cleanest one I’ve ever bought – by far! “Just off the showroom floor,” it most certainly has never experienced “normal” wear or exposure to the elements.

Eight gorgeous slag glass panels, full of the fire that comes with the best of that glass. As you can see, the panels were carefully chosen for their bling. They’re in perfect condition, as is the rest of the shade (with the exception of a tiny loss to the patina in just one place).

The patina on the base is absolutely “luscious,” it’s got an almost chestnut coloration – bronze with a bit of red, well-preserved by the original lacquer finish. There are several extremely hard-to-see compromises to that surface, the largest and most visible (about a ¼ inch across) of which is pictured here.

The socket’s interior has probably been replaced, but the pull-chain and the pull at the end of it beautifully match the patina of the rest of the lamp. This lamp’s been rewired; use any wattage you so desire with it (with a standard based bulb).

What lovely proportions this lamp has! Lifted as it is on the four arms emanating from below the socket, it appears to be floating. The base is amply sized at about 7 5/8 inches diameter. The underside of the base has a felt pad installed, probably replaced when the lamp was rewired.

All we seem to read about on the web is “rare, rare, rare.” This is one of those (rare) instances where it’s the truth!!

Measurements: about 20 inches tall, 13 ½ wide and 7 5/8 across the base.
