Simply magnificent and grand is the most appropriate way to describe this outstanding pair of late 20th century Satsuma Vases, of the Meiji Period. The Meiji period (1868–1912) represent the peak of Japanese earthenware crafted for the Western export market. Known for their dramatic scale, often ranging from substantial 15-inch statement pieces to palatial 49-inch floor vases, these ceramics are highly prized by collectors for their intricate, hand-painted narratives.
The over laying panels feature figures in tradition Japanese manner. Colors are vibrant reds and yellows. Moriage & Heavy Gilding: These pieces feature raised, textured enamel work known as Moriage along with generous gold detailing that outlines clothing textiles, clouds, and cartouche of floral landscape
