The surface features a repeating walnut woodgrain pattern that is bookmatched at the center. The edge shows a sleek bevel, a characteristic common to all authentic Saarinen tables.

The base, made from a single piece of cast iron (today the base is aluminum), weighs over 80 lbs. Its off white enamel coating remains in near-perfect condition. Like all Saarinen tables by Knoll, the tabletop connects to the base by a single threaded bolt.

The inside of the base is stamped 1087S-36B, one of several stamps Knoll used in the early days of production. If the tabletop itself was tagged at the time of manufacture, it would have been with a Knoll sticker on the underside that is now lost to history.

Both the walnut surface and the underside of the top have been fully refinished. The base has almost no visible wear. A rare, collectible, and timeless icon of mid century modern design in close to pristine condition. This table previously belonged to a prominent real estate photographer in Southern California.
